Welcome to my little corner of the internet! I'm Kiru (that's short for Kirubakaran Jayakumar), and I'm thrilled you've stumbled upon my blog. Grab a cup of coffee (or tea, if that's your thing), and let's dive into the wild world of cybersecurity together!

What I'll Be Writing About

This blog will cover a range of cybersecurity topics, including:

  1. Homelab setups: I'll share how I design and build my own cybersecurity testing environments at home.
  2. Honeypots: These are great tools for understanding current threats, and I'll discuss my experiences setting them up and analyzing the results.
  3. CTF writeups: I enjoy Capture The Flag challenges and will walk through some of my approaches to solving them.
  4. HackTheBox walkthroughs: These machines offer great learning opportunities, so I'll share my experiences with some of the more popular ones.
  5. SIEM use case detection logics: I'll dive into creating effective detection rules for Security Information and Event Management systems, sharing practical examples and best practices.
  6. Online challenges: Beyond CTFs, I'll explore various online cybersecurity challenges and puzzles, discussing the learning points from each.
  7. Blue team labs walkthroughs: I'll guide you through some blue team-focused lab exercises, helping to strengthen defensive security skills.

Why I'm Doing This

There are a couple of reasons I'm starting this blog. First, I believe that explaining these concepts will deepen my own understanding. Teaching is often the best way to learn.

Secondly, I remember how complex and overwhelming cybersecurity seemed when I was just starting out. If I can help make some of these topics more accessible to others, I'll consider that a success.

Let's Connect

I'm hoping this blog can be a two-way street. While I'll be sharing my knowledge and experiences, I'm also keen to hear your thoughts, questions, and experiences. If you're working on similar projects, have questions about anything I post, or just want to discuss cybersecurity, please feel free to reach out. You can find me on LinkedIn if you'd like to connect.

I'm looking forward to this journey of continuous learning and sharing in the cybersecurity field. Thanks for stopping by, and I hope you'll find the content here useful.
